School Days

Last week, Landon and Libbie came home with their fall school pictures. I can't believe how grown-up they both are getting.

Landon had "Crazy Hair" on picture day but they turned out pretty cute!

Luckily, Libbie was in rare form and actually smiled...
this is her typical look...

They even did group shots of the kids...so sweet!

Busted!

Some one has a busted lip at our house...and it's Libbie! Libbie and Landon are starting to really play together, which we love, but Landon doesn't quite realize the size of Libbie. Also, add in, that we have two very clumsy children.

We try to remind Landon how much bigger he is and that he needs to be a bit more gentle, but Libbie doesn't help the situation. By no means is Libbie a dainty little girl...she likes to bump heads and stomp about. She too, doesn't realize her size.

So...today while playing, Landon accidentally knocked Libbie down, which resulted in a busted lip. Libbie has taken it like a champ and Landon has profusely apologized to not only Libbie, but Andrew and me, also.

After the busted lip, Libbie was in need of a nap. While Libbie napped upstairs, Landon napped downstairs. Once Libbie was awake and realized Landon was asleep downstairs, she headed straight to him to wake up Landon. She enjoyed this a bunch.

In the Washington Post

Ok...so neither my family nor I were worthy of making the front page of the Washington Post, but the school I teach at did! I'm not sure how I feel about it making the front page, but not much I can do about it.

I feel as though we are all aware that there has to be a change in the education system in the US, but what that change is, and how it will be implemented is the major topic of discussion. Fairfax County, here in Virginia is trying to implement a plan and the school I belong to is beginning it's implementation of this policy this current school year. It is a topic of great discussion and has made it's way into the Washington Post.

Read the article below to check out the policy and a glimpse of how education is headed.

Dress Up Fun!

Earlier this school year, a photographer came to Landon & Libbie's daycare. They came with outfits and props. I had no idea they were coming, but the workers made sure that Landon and Libbie had their pictures taken. Here's the final product.

I did not buy any pictures but because Andrew took a look at them we ended up getting a free sample and a magnet calendar with this picture on it. No too bad, for being FREE!

At our house for Halloween, we had a Ladybug...and Woody the Cowboy!
They both were super excited to wear their costumes and Landon had a great time trick-or-treating!

We hope you all had a Happy Halloween!

Landon turns THREE!

Landon turned three on Septemeber 29 (again,...I know!) and we celebrated the same weekend as Libbie while my parents were in town. Landon has gone through a big Batman phase, so we did batman cupcakes.Landon celebrated in his Batman mask...

to eventually add to his Batman PJ's

These three years have gone by so fast. I can't believe he's three already. We are so enjoying our time with him and watching him grow into a little person!

Libbie turns ONE!

Libbie turned one, on September 21 (I know, I know...I'm a bit late). We celebrated twice, on her actual birthday and the weekend after her birthday. In my head, I had this great idea to have a white back drop with Libbie in bloomers and let her "go to town" on a birthday cake.

Libbie had different plans, she hated the cake and didn't want anything to with it. From, the pictures below, you would have no idea, but I chose carefully for the post.

On her weekend celebration, my parents came in town, and we had a little celebration with them and Andrew's parents. Instead of a cake, I made jumbo ladybug cupcakes.

Libbie enjoyed her ladybug cupcake much more than her other cake. Libbie had a wonderful birthday!

Thank you everyone for thinking of Libbie on her birthday!

Right before school started up, the Texas Rangers came to Baltimore to play the Orioles. This means "Baseball Darren" comes to the area. Andrew is really good about checking on when the Rangers come so we can maybe see Darren O'Day pitch.

We headed to Baltimore and we sit next to the bull pen so that we can chat with Darren for a bit. Darren was so nice to offer a ball to Landon and he signed it!

We sat here for most of the game and watched Darren warm up.

Libbie had a great time too!

We watched Darren warm up, hoping he would get in the game...unfortunately Darren didn't get in...maybe next time!

More Florida

After Orlando, we took it pretty easy in Jacksonville. I was able to do some wedding dress shopping with KC, I met with some friends, we played with Kinley and Chance, and we hung out with my parents. We ended our trip with Kinley & Chance's 3rd Birthday! We were super happy to celebrate with them. Kinley wanted Dora cupcakes and Chance wanted a Thomas the Train cake. I think they both turned out great!
Chance loved his cake...
and Kinley surely enjoyed her cupcakes!
Before presents, the boys relaxed together watching cartoons
and Kinley and Libbie hung out together in the family room.
The night before we left we went to visit friends of ours, the Gooch's. They welcomed their daughter, Avery, a month after we welcomed Libbie. We hadn't met her or seen their new house, so we spent the evening catching up.
When we got back Libbie wanted to make sure to pose for pics with Papa Frosty,
Emma,
and Uncle Danny.
We were super sad to leave but so glad we were able to spend almost 3 weeks in Jacksonville.
