Way To Go!

Last week I posted about a family friend, Darren O'Day, trying to make it in the big leagues. Well...He did it! Darren O'Day is going to be a Relief Pitcher for the L.A. Angels. We've already checked out the Angels schedule to see when they'll be here playing the Nationals. We hope to go to a game in June. We were able to watch him play when he was a Gator and now as an Angel. We are so excited for him and wish him all the best. Great job Darren!

(Sorry the picture is so small...it's the only one I found of him in his Angels hat)

Cherry Blossoms

We went into DC to see the cherry blossom trees surrounding the National Mall. They were beautiful. There is a festival for these beautiful blossoms that run two weeks long. We didn't stay for any of the events, just took the metro to get some pictures. Next weekend is the end, so we wanted to make sure we were able see them this year (we missed them last year, while we were in England). The weather wasn't the greatest, little sun and pretty cold, but the scenery was spectacular!

1/2 Birthday

Like I said earlier...today Landon turns 6 months. Well...according to a half birthday calculator (it takes into consideration leap years and such), his half birthday is actually tomorrow. We decided to celebrate today since he was born on the 29th of September. We decided to celebrate with dinner and half a cake.

Landon sat at the dinner table with us while we ate bar-b-que chicken (Sauce from the Winking Lizard...Yum!) and corn.

Landon's dinner was butternut squash and applesauce mixed together. We know he likes applesauce but the squash is new.

So much for squash! We may have to try it again tomorrow.

Landon's friends, Emma and Brody, came over to wish him a happy half birthday!

When I was growing up, my family had a plate that was used for special occasions. It was red with the phrase: "you are special today" repeating around the rim of the plate. Whoever's special day it was, ate their dinner with that plate. I decided to do the same for our family. I bought our "celebrate" plate from pampered chef to be used for the same purpose.

In the Yard

Today Landon turned 6 months! Can you believe it! The time has gone by so quickly, but we are loving every minute of it. He has been such a blessing in our lives.

We took Landon for his 6 month pictures, went shopping, then came home and played in the yard. Here are some pictures...

{Stay posted for more pictures from today because later tonight we're going to have a little cake to celebrate his "1/2 year" birthday.}

Update...Construction Improving

As you can see, I was able to change the background but there were a few things bugging me about the title. I made some slight changes so they probably aren't that noticeable. It looking more like I had wanted. I still need to figure out how to get different fonts and give the blog a more scrapbook-like feel (adding pictures and embellishments). There is more learning in store for me, especially since I am not the most computer savvy person. I think I've done an alright job so far.

The paper I used is from shabbyprincess, which has many free digital scrapbooking kits. Right now I'm only able to use the paper from the kits to customize my blog, hopefully I can start using the ribbons, frames, and such!

For the tutorial on how to customize your own blog, click here. It really walks you through step by step. It only teches you the basics (what I have done). That's why I am in search of other tutorials or help on adding embellisments to complete the look of my blog.

{Check it out...it's fun and addicting!}

Digital scrapbooking has also become a big business so there are many free kits out there along with others that will cost you. I actually think the prices aren't that bad. But as long as I'm learning...I use the free ones!

Under Construction

Well...I'm learning how to customize our blog right now and it's going so so. I have been trying to learn since I've seen other blogs that have been customized. There are places where you can pay to have someone do it for you, but I wanted to try and learn. Maybe I could make some money after I get better at it:)

So...for now, the blog may be continually changing until I get what I like. I thought I would have it done tonight but I'm still having a bit of trouble and it's getting late. For now, this will have to do. Hope you like the changes

A Taste of the Majors

I thought I would share some info on a family friend, Darren O'Day, who is a baseball player making his way in the sport...He is one of my brother Sean's good high school buddies. They went to UF together where Darren played baseball for the Gators. He was well accomplished at UF and once he graduated, Darren put off medical school to chase his baseball dream. Darren has been playing for different teams, doing a great job of making a name for himself. Just recently he was invited to the LA Angels spring training and pitched with the "big" guys! It seems as though things are going well for him. We are so excited for Darren and can't wait to see what else is in store for him.
Congrats!

New Cousins

While we were in Ohio, Landon was able to meet two more cousins, Scott and Colleen. We were so happy that they were able to meet him while Landon is still a little guy! We loved visiting with you!

Easter

Well...we hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Here's how we spent ours.

Landon woke up this morning to find what the Easter Bunny left him. Daddy and Landon searched and searched to find his basket. It was full of all sorts of goodies!
Landon got all dresses in his Sunday best. It was a little cold for the outfit he wore with the Easter Bunny, luckily we had another outfit for him to wear. The entire crew (18 of us) went to church and we took up an entire pew!

After church we had a wonderful brunch and posed for some pictures. Here's the whole gang, minus aunts and uncles.

The happy family posing for our Easter picture.

Today went pretty fast. We were pretty bummed that we weren't able to stay later than we did. We had to get on the road for a 7 hr drive back. Thanks everyone! We had a great time. We can't wait to see you all at the wedding!

Easter Fun!

No Easter is complete without dying Easter eggs. Andrew boiled the eggs and the aunts got the dye ready. Then the kids had fun. Well...actually Reagan had fun. She was able to dye everyone's eggs since she is the big cousin and Katherine and Landon needed help. Daddy picked orange for Landon's egg. Landon thought it looked yummy!
The finished products ready for the Easter bunny!

Snow...on Easter?!

Who ever heard of such a thing? I know that for many of you this is normal, but I have never spent an Easter with snow. Now I know why are relatives came to Florida for Easter so many times.

Last night in Cleveland, the snow started falling...
this morning the house was covered and we headed south to Columbus...
When we arrived in Columbus, the snow was gone but the cold stayed!
Even though the weather isn't great, being with family is so much fun. We are so glad we are able to spend this holiday with everyone in Ohio!

Great Grammy

We went to see Landon's Great Grammy. We were able to spend most of the day with her. We had a great time. Hopefully we'll be able to come back soon.

Update...Center of the World

For all inquiring minds...we have an answer!
According to wikipedia...

Center of the World is an unincorporated community in far eastern Braceville Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. It consists of several houses and a few retail establishments centered at the crossroads where State Routes 82 and 5 diverge.
The community was originally founded by Randall Wilmot, an eccentric investor who had plans to make his new community a major economic center in northeast Ohio. When the railroads used the nearby city of Warren as the regional hub, Center of the World fell into decline both in terms of population and industry. In his later years, Wilmot moved into a large house which he referred to as "The End of the World."

Center of the World

On our travels to Ohio, we had to make a stop for some gas. The exit wasn't a populated one and the gas station was about 3 miles off the exit. On our way, we passed this sign. We aren't quite sure why it's there or if it's real. We tried searching on the interent, but found nothing. Any help would be great!

Easter Bunny

Today Landon and I went to the mall with our neighbors, to visit with the Easter Bunny. Landon had to make sure that the Easter Bunny knew where to leave his basket since we leave for Ohio tomorrow!

Landon got all dressed up in his Easter clothes. (the pants are size 6-12 month and the shirt was size 12 months). He's getting so big! Doesn't he look adorable?!

After visiting with the Easter Bunny, we went to the playground. Landon went down the slide with his friend, Emma. We had a great time!

Girls vs. Boys

Andrew got these in an email and I thought I would share them with everyone. I'm sure most would agree the truth in these pictures...especially the second.

I don't know about you but I can never go to the mall and go in only one store!

Cute Pictures

As you all know, Landon loves his baby! Here he is taking a nap with the comfort of his baby.

Landon has started holding his bottle...today he decided that an extra foot couldn't hurt!

Spring Break

It's finally here! ( I don't know why I'm in such a need for a break, since I was off for 3 months when Landon was born!) The cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom and the weather has been beautiful. Let's pray that it stays this nice all week. It's going to be great being able to do whatever this next week.
Here is a picture of the cherry blossoms when they are in full bloom here in DC. The actual festival if from March 27 - April 3. We'll post pictures when we go into DC to see them, since we missed them last year.

Two more Days!

Two more work days until Spring Break! I can't wait. I think everyone is getting a little antsy (teachers & students)! We have no really exciting plans but going to Ohio to visit my Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins the last part of the break, to spend Easter with them. Landon will get to visit with my cousin's two little girls. It should be alot of fun!

Magic!

Landon has not been napping at daycare and it has been pretty rough for his caretaker. Part of this is my fault because I allow him to use a pacifier when he takes a nap or goes to bed. This is the only time he uses one for me, but his nanny doesn't allow any of the children to use one. Landon also goes to bed with a security blanket (baby lamb). The other day his nanny couldn't believe Landon didn't take a nap all day! I decided to see if taking his "baby" to daycare would help. Like magic...Landon went to sleep. I had no idea he was already so attached to the blanket.
Thanks Brian & Debbie!

Bedtime Buddies

Jaxson decided to get into Landon's bed when Landon was getting ready to take a nap. (Actually...there was a little coaxing on my part!) Jaxson didn't seem to mind as long as Landon kept his distance.

How did Jax get in there, you ask? Watch the video below!
